Film Fatales Fellowship at Stowe Story Labs
Film Fatales - Dec. 3, 2021

We are excited to launch a new Film Fatales fellowship at the Stowe Story Labs!

The Stowe Story Labs Film Fatales Fellowship will be awarded to a talented filmmaker of any marginalized gender who presents a compelling, fresh story with intriguing, traditionally underrepresented characters. Qualified applicants include cis women, trans women, trans men, non-binary people, and those who are otherwise marginalized. This fellowship covers tuition for a narrative lab in 2022, along with all other fellowship benefits.

At the Lab, participants focus on skill development and elements such as story structure, character, and theme; conversation about story; packaging; elements of creative production; casting; adaptation; and finance and distribution. Participants will have direct access to working industry professionals top in their fields; opportunities to build knowledge, skills, and insights to navigate the film industry; a network of talented peers, vital in this collaborative art and business; peer-to-peer script note sessions; workshops; roundtables; and social time–all in a beautiful setting to develop your craft.

"I am really pleased to be partnering with Film Fatales to offer this new fellowship. Whether a writer, a writer-director, or a creative producer working to establish herself in this industry (or any other multi-hyphenate combination), we believe we can help you advance your craft and projects," said Founder and Director of Stowe Story Labs David Rocchio. "Through this fellowship we will also help expand the mix of stories presented to audiences, which will help bend the world a bit through story, and nothing could be more important right now."

Film Fatales Founder Leah Meyerhoff said, "We are excited to launch the Film Fatales Fellowship, dedicated to filmmakers of all marginalized genders, to cover tuition to the Stowe Story Labs. My experiences as a Stowe mentor have been highly rewarding thus far, and I continue to be impressed by the depth and scope of talent in the lab participants. I look forward to building new pathways for underrepresented filmmakers as we work together to bring more projects by marginalized creators to the screen."
