Nettie Peña

Nettie received her Bachelor in Arts and Master of Fine Arts Degrees from UCLA. As a Theater Arts student in the Motion Picture Department, Nettie was awarded the William Morris Scholarship for Outstanding Film Directing. She went on to work for NBC News in Burbank. Following her work at NBC she filmed and produced documentaries for the SGI Buddhist Organization, allowing her to travel to many countries. Recently Nettie has concentrated on her still photography. Her photograph of a Mayan mother and baby in Chichicastenango, Guatemala was exhibited at the Palm Springs Art Museum. Nettie's photographs were accepted into an International photography show at Gallery 19, in Chicago. In September her still photography was exhibited at Barba Gallery in Palm Springs. Her photograph, Maya Woman Weaver, won the Photographic Award at the Artists Council exhibit at the Galen. Nettie plans to film a documentary on the Guatemalan Mayan Women Weavers.
