Rita Baghdadi
Rita Baghdadi is an Emmy award-winning Moroccan-American documentary filmmaker known for the intimacy of her character-driven films. Her film SIRENS premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, won the Grand Jury Prize at Outfest and was praised as “smartly crafted,” “deeply moving” and “a bold rebellion.” Executive Produced by Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph, SIRENS was released in theaters across the U.S and is now available to stream. Some of Rita’s previous films include MY COUNTRY NO MORE (Independent Lens), winner of Best Feature at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and CITY RISING, winner of the Emmy award for Best Social Issue Film. Rita is co-founder of Lady & Bird Films. Her work has been supported by Sundance, Tribeca, Netflix, HBO, Canon, Film Independent, Catapult Films, Chicken and Egg, and the International Documentary Association. She is a 2024 Concordia Fellow, a 2023 Sundance Momentum Fellow and DOC NYC’s ‘40 under 40’ class of 2022. Her film FINDING THE LIGHT will premiere on Disney+ march 19, 2024, and she’s currently in development and production on several new documentary films and series. She is a member of the DGA and is represented by WME.
