Representation matters

There is no lack of directing talent or motivation, only a lack of opportunity.

RATIO OF WHITE MEN TO
DIRECTORS OF MARGINALIZED
GENDERS ACROSS 13 YEARS

92 TO 1

Despite constant talk of progress, filmmakers of all marginalized genders lack the level of institutional support, mentorship, and job opportunities afforded to their cis white male counterparts, especially when breaking out of the indie film space to projects with higher budgets.

Through our hands-on advocacy work, community-based approach, and results-driven initiatives, scores of women and non-binary filmmakers have been hired for directing jobs, received funding for their films, and screened their work at film festivals and theaters worldwide.

Only when marginalized voices are able to step into their power as creators do the stories on screen authentically portray the truth of the world and become honest catalysts for transformative change in our world at large. The fight for a more representative film industry is the fight for a more empathetic world.
