Gabriela Calvache

Originally from Ecuador, South America, Gabriela Calvache is an award-winning director and screenwriter. She is the first woman Latino director selected at Universal Directors Initiative of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group’s Global Talent Development & Inclusion Program. 2019 / 2021. Her film La Mala Noche (The Longest Night) premiered at SXSW 2019. It won 12 awards and 15 nominations, including Best Film at the NY Latino Film Festival HBO. La Mala Noche was selected at the Co-Production Market San Sebastian Film Festival, where it won the pitch and received the Cannes Attendance Support grant from the Marche du Film of Cannes. This film was the Ecuadorian candidate at the Oscar Awards. Calvache has won Honorary Mention for Best Emerging Director at Minneapolis-Saint Paul Film Festival and Best Director at Asti Film Festival Italy.
