SUMMARY:Now More Than Ever
DESCRIPTION:Film Fatales members from around the world connected an end-of-year networking mixer open to members and allies alike! Directors\, actors\, cinematographers\, composers\, producers…filmmakers and film lovers of all backgrounds were welcome to attend. \nOn the last day of our Now More Than Ever crowdfunding campaign\, we gathered together to celebrate the strength and tenacity of our filmmaker community\, reconnect with like-minded filmmakers to lift our spirits and create stronger connections as we look forward to brighter days ahead. We began with a guided conversation before dividing up into smaller discussion circles and closed out the evening with a mindful intention setting exercise for the new year. #NowMoreThanEver we need stories that illuminate\, inspire\, and imagine pathways to a better future…because the power of film to promote empathy is indispensable. Have a happy new year!

SUMMARY:Fest and Furious
DESCRIPTION:Revisit this Film Fatales online workshop about maximizing your film festival strategy led by Kathy Susca and Jeffrey Winter from The Film Collaborative. Moderated by Lagueria Davis (Director/Producer\, Black Barbie: A Documentary). Film festivals can be elusive and confounding. They are also opportunities to advance your career\, grow your network and expand your audience. But how does it all work? Which festival is the right fit for your film? How do you get your project to stand out to programmers? Once you get into a festival how do you create buzz about your project? What are useful techniques for getting your film in front of sales agents and distributors? We’ll cover all this and more to help you curate a strategy for your film to find success on the festival circuit. Three audience members were invited to share their current projects to be used as a case study for live feedback during the webinar. With support from event partners The Film Collaborative\, Ghetto Film School\, Minorities in Film\, Portrait Creative Network\, and NYWIFT.

SUMMARY:Framing Agnes
DESCRIPTION:Thank you for joining Film Fatales and BFFoundation for a discussion with the creative team behind Framing Agnes fresh off their Sundance premiere. Speakers include director Chase Joynt\, (cinematographer) Aubree Bernier-Clarke\, (participant) Jules Gill-Peterson\, (writer) Morgan M. Page\, and Samantha Curley (producer). Moderated by programmer Stephanie Owens. \nIn 1958\, a young trans woman named Agnes entered a study about sex disorders at UCLA to get the gender-affirming care she needed\, by any means necessary. Her story was long considered to be exceptional until never-before-seen case files of other patients were found in 2017. Directed by Chase Joynt (No Ordinary Man) and featuring an all-star cast of transgender artists and actors\, Framing Agnes uses re-enactment and genre-blurring storytelling techniques to breathe new life into previously unknown people who redefined gender in the midcentury. Featuring Angelica Ross\, Jen Richards\, Zackary Drucker\, Silas Howard\, Max Wolf Valerio\, and Stephen Ira.
