For the first time this year, over half of the directors invited to join The Academy are women, including over a dozen members of Film Fatales! While the Directing Branch is still overwhelmingly pale and male, we hope that incremental steps can lead to systemic change. With the addition of the 2024 members, 35 percent of Academy members are women and 20% are from underrepresented ethnic and racial communities.
