Alexandra Stergiou

Alexandra is an award-winning director and producer based in New York City. Her focus is non-fiction television, independent cinema, and commercials. She is also an amateur pool shark who will take on any challengers. Alexandra's work has been recognized by the Wasserman Foundation, National Board of Review, ITVS, British Council, and the Tribeca Film Institute. She received my BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Before embarking on her current career path, she ran a filmmaking workshop for refugees in Greece with an NGO supported by the European Commission and Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Alexandra have over nine years of experience working in network television shows that have aired on Viceland, MTV, ITV, A&E, and the Travel Channel, to name a few. Her independent film work has been featured in Filmmaker Magazine, Woman and Hollywood, NPR, and the New York Times. She recently directed and produced the independent feature documentary, "The Candidates," which played at festivals nationwide, including DOC NYC, IFF Boston, and Big Sky. The film will air nationally on the Emmy/Peabody winning series Fuse Docs in November 2019. She also directed, shot, and edited the independent short documentary "Jewel's Hunt," which was supported by ITVS and the Tribeca Film Institute, currently streaming on Independent Lens’ Storycast Docs. Commercially, her clients have included John Frieda, Maybelline, Cole Haan, Glamour Magazine, Vox Media, and Refinery29.
