Anjali Nayar

Anjali was named one of the 40 filmmakers under 40 by DOCNYC; her indie films have been supported by Cinereach, Sundance, and Tribeca, won countless awards, jury prizes, gone theatrical, and been acquired by Netflix and Amazon. Anjali just wrapped a Netflix Original about the secret science of eating with Academy Award-winning Tremolo Productions and her fantasy short CLOSER won the 2022 Prism Prize Audience Award (Canada’s version of the MTV awards). Anjali has also directed commercials and branded docs for Amazon, Southern Company, Home Depot, ACER computers, Patagonia, Goldman Sachs, Mountain Equipment Co-Op and the San Diego Zoo. Beyond film, Anjali founded TIMBY, a social justice platform that’s active in 25 languages and 50 countries around the world. She sits on the advisory of the Environment and Human Rights Division of Human Rights Watch and is an Associate Professor at Cornell University. Anjali was a foreign correspondent based in Nairobi for Reuters for 10 years and has a background in climate science, space science and journalism from the University of Oxford, International Space University and Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism.
