Asia Youngman is an award-winning Indigenous director and screenwriter from Vancouver, Canada. Named as one of Playback’s “10 to Watch”, she is an alumna from the TIFF Filmmaker Lab, the TIFF Talent Accelerator, the Canadian Academy Directors Program for Women and the Berlinale's DocSalon Toolbox Programme. Some of her previous short films include N'XAXAITKW (2022) and THIS INK RUNS DEEP (2019) which both premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She has directed film and television projects for ESPN, Lifetime, CBC, PBS, TVO, APTN, Telus and History Channel. Asia is currently writing a television series for two-time Oscar-winner Rick Carter and she has projects in development with Amazon Studios, Entertainment One and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions. Her most recent film I’M JUST HERE FOR THE RIOT (2023) is part of ESPN's acclaimed 30 for 30 series and premiered at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto. Asia is represented by The Gersh Agency and Pacific Artists Management.
