Jaime Sunwoo is a Korean American multidisciplinary artist from New York City working in film, art, animation, and performance. Her works connect personal narratives to global histories through surreal storytelling. She has presented her work at Park Avenue Armory, Abrons Art Center, Flux Factory, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Food and Drink,, and NYU. Her animated short documentary Equality Tea was featured in Vogue and Whetstone Magazine. Her film Handwritten premiered at Lincoln Center for New York Asian Film Festival and is available on Amazon Prime Video (USA) in "Fantastic New Worlds: A Handmade Puppet Dreams Collection" and Samansa (Japan, Korea). Her performance film Specially Processed American Me, received support from the NYC Women's Fund for Media, Music and Theatre by the City of New York Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Queens Council on the Arts' Artist Commissioning Program, Asian Women Giving Circle,, Brooklyn Arts Fund, The Laundromat Project, BRIClab, BRIClab, HB Studio Rehearsal Space Residency, and The Jim Henson Foundation. She is currently touring the film, doing related screenings, workshops, and lectures at universities including Yale University, Cornell University, and University of Maryland.
