Laura Baumeister

Laura Baumeister, creator of imaginary landscapes where animals roar and are free, lover of subversive stories and faithful to the everlasting blast, the principle that creates everything. She obtained her training as a director at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico. Although before, she was already making visceral short films in Nicaragua, a place that injected her with its flora and fauna. Water Navel had its world premiere at IFFR Rotterdam in 2019, followed by Clermont Ferrand and won a mention at the Morelia Film Festival. Isabel Im Winter was screened at Critics' Week in Cannes 2014 and Primal Force won the young revelation award at the Toulouse Film Festival as well as a mention for best actress also in Morelia. For several years she has been giving workshops committed to generating a more fluid and rich bridge between directors and actors. Daughter of Rage is her debut feature film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival followed by the San Sebastián International Film Festival, currently has been in more than forty festivals all around the world with several accumulated awards. Daughter of Rage is the fifth fictional film in the history of Nicaragua and the first filmed by a female director born in that country. She is currently in the financing phase of What follows is my death, which will be her second fiction film and in development of Fire at the end of the night, her third.
