Tamara Mariam Dawit

Tamara exists between two communities: arts and social justice, which she merges together through her projects. Tamara has extensive experience working within the arts and entertainment industries as well as managing human rights, and youth engagement programs. For ten years Tamara led the 411 Initiative For Change a non-profit arts organization, through which she produced touring theater presentations, music projects, and video shorts for educational use. Tamara has produced documentaries which have been broadcast on TV in Canada, Europe and South America and screened in Toronto and Mexico City. Her multi art theater productions have been presented to over 500,000 young people across Canada. Tamara produced the documentaries Forgotten Children (2007, EOne) and Girls of Latitude (2008, MTV/CTV) and she produced and directed Grandma Knows Best? (2014, Bravofactual). Among a number of other documentary projects for MTV Canada. She is currently working on a feature length documentary Finding Sally. She is also directing the first season Neteb a current affairs program for Ethiopian television.
