Film Fatales Meetup at SXSW
Join members of Film Fatales at our SXSW Female Filmmaker Meet-Up on Friday, March 13th at 3:30pm at the Austin Convention Center, Austin Suite for a gathering in support of women and non-binary filmmakers of all backgrounds and those interested in amplifying marginalized voices in the industry to build connections. This will also be an opportunity to hear from members of Film Fatales who have directed feature films premiering at SXSW. Open to badge holders. All genders welcome.
The evolution of Film Fatales has resulted in a veritable force at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, where over a dozen members have directed films premiering at the festival. These include the narrative features Golden Arm directed by Maureen Bharoocha, I’ll Meet You There directed by Iram Parveen Bilal; I Will Make You Mine directed by Lynn Chen, Lucky directed by Natasha Kermani, Miss Juneteenth directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples, The Donut King directed by Alice Gu, and the documentary features A Thousand Cuts directed by Ramona S. Diaz, Coded Bias directed by Shalini Kantayya, Lydia Lunch: The War is Never Over directed by Beth B, and The Dilemma of Desire directed by Maria Finitzo.
Additional Film Fatales members have directed episodic and short form content at the festival this year including the documentary shorts Betye Saar: Taking Care of Business directed by Christine Turner and Call Center Blues by Geeta Gandbhir, the narrative short film Waffle directed by Caryln Hudson and the episodic pilots Embrace directed by Jessica Sanders and Racist Trees directed by Sara Newens and Mina T. Son.
