Alexandra Henry
Alexandra Henry is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and photographer based between Santa Fe and New York City, with a passion for championing underrepresented voices through the power of film. Her work spans feature and short-form documentary, and has been exhibited at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. and the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam.
Her debut feature documentary, STREET HEROINES — celebrating female graffiti and street artists from around the globe — won Best Documentary Jury Prize at the Portland Film Festival 2021 and Best Documentary at the Hip Hop Cine Fest in Rome, Italy 2024, establishing her as a vital voice in mission-driven filmmaking. Alexandra has a deep commitment to documentary work that drives social impact. Her short film MIKE'S JOURNEY, produced in partnership with the nonprofit Adaptive Sports Program of New Mexico, earned a semi-finalist distinction at the Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival in Austin, TX. Her short documentary Moving Together won four Telly Awards (Gold, 2x Silver, Bronze) and a Bronze Anthem Award for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion — Non-Profit Fundraising, demonstrating her ability to create films that not only tell meaningful stories but move audiences to act.
In addition to her documentary practice, Alexandra is a commercial producer for global brands including Pepsi, Lay's, Quaker, and Gatorade — bringing a rare combination of storytelling depth and production excellence to every project. She was selected for SHOOT Magazine's New Directors Showcase in 2019 and named a finalist for the STARZ & The Wrap Women's 'Telling Our Stories' film contest.
A graduate of Occidental College with a B.A. in Diplomacy & World Affairs, Alexandra speaks Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Italian — and brings a truly global perspective to the stories she tells. She was born in Alexandria, Virginia and raised near Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
