Alison Reid

Award-winning Director ALISON REID began her career in film as a stunt performer, stunt coordinator, and second unit director. She formed Free Spirit Films in order to produce and direct projects diverse in genre but similar in their exploration of the human spirit.   Her first feature film, THE BABY FORMULA (E-One, Warner Brothers Digital) sold internationally, and had a worldwide film festival run, winning the Audience Award at 2009 Inside Out LGBT Film Festival, Best LGBT Film at the 2009 Nashville Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Zenith Award at the 2009 Montreal World Film Festival.  Reid’s critically acclaimed feature documentary, THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES (Zeitgeist Films /Kino Lorber) had a robust theatrical release in the USA  and Canada. Awards include Best Documentary, and Audience Award (Doc) at 2019 Sonoma International Film Festival, Audience Award at 2019 Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival; and Best Feature at 2019 The Global Science Film Festival.  Reid’s television directing credits include GOOD WITCH, HUDSON & REX, SAVING HOPE, HEARTLAND, and MURDOCH MYSTERIES. Her second unit directing credits include THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY (Netflix).
