Claire Jeffreys
I am a first-time director. I live in NYC in Stuyvesant Town and we raised our daughter here. Prior to making the documentary about him, I was the talent manager for my husband, Garland Jeffreys. My initial goals were to have a larger audience come to appreciate him as his devoted fans already do, and to bring his body of work the recognition I've long believed it deserved. My vision for the film has expanded and its themes have become more universal—it is my hope that people will come away with a respect not only for Garland's hard-won success, but with a desire to embrace their own levels of achievement in any sphere, not just as artists, but as human beings.
