Elisa Levine
Elisa Levine is an award-winning Seattle-based filmmaker with a focus on using verité documentary storytelling to illuminate marginalized subcultures hidden in plain sight. Her directing debut, SWEETHEART DEAL (2022), set to play the 2023 Slamdance Film Festival, documents the stories of four sex workers caught in the spiral of addiction who turn to a self-proclaimed healer offering friendship and a path to salvation from the streets inside his roadside RV.
"What they have crafted is one of the most astonishing studies of a real-life predator ever committed to film…" - RogerEbert.com
Elisa was lead researcher on Robinson Devor’s haunting documentary ZOO (2007), which premiered at Sundance. She produced WAITING FOR NESARA (2005), which follows a messianic group of excommunicated LDS church members, and the radical faith that binds them together in the wake of 9/11. Almost 20 years later, their unusual belief system has mutated into QAnon.
Elisa is a Film Independent, Points North, Garrett Scott, MOFFOM, Sundance Documentary Film Program and Sundance Edit & Story Lab Fellow.
