Jenny Murray
Jenny is a filmmaker from Chicago. ¡Las Sandinistas!, her first feature documentary film, premiered in competition at SXSW 2018 where it won a SXSW "Special Jury Recognition" Award. The film went on to win the top "Jury Prize – Best Film – New Directors Competition" and the "Audience Award for Best Foreign Documentary" at Brazil's São Paulo International Film Festival, the Audience Award at CineLatino Film Festival, and the Jury Prize in the Justice Matters Competition at the 2019 Washington DC International Film Festival. ¡Las Sandinistas! premiered with theatrical runs at Film Forum in New York City and at Bertha DocHouse in London.The film broadcast nationally on PBS Doc World in March 2019 and rebroadcast in June 2019. ¡Las Sandinistas! was co-produced by ITVS and was also an IFP 2017 Documentary Lab selection. Jenny has spoken about the film on CNN International, PBS, and at Harvard's Kennedy School. She taught a master class on filmmaking at MICA through Johns Hopkins University and the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund, and she has most recently worked for FX, Neal Street Productions, and MRC as a researcher for television shows in development. Jenny graduated from Columbia University in New York, and after working in finance as a licensed Associate on Watermill’s stock trading desk, she began directing films and comedy videos. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
