Born and raised in Costa Rica, Erika obtained her MFA in Film Production at Florida State University, where she attended as a Fulbright International Fellow. Her filmography as a Writer / Director includes award winning short films, documentaries and her debut narrative feature, JANUARY 1ST, which was licensed by HBO in 2016. Her work has screened theatrically in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic as well as in international film festivals that include the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, Urbanworld, Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam, LA Latino Film Festival, etc. In 2019 she was chosen to participate in Ryan Murphy's Half Initiative Directing Program where she shadowed on an episode of American Horror Story. As a screenwriter, Erika has developed television projects for Warner Bros Television and most recently for Netflix. She’s a Writers Guild of America member and is currently based in New York. Her latest project is ALMA, is currently in festivals.
