Synopsis
Ash, a witty and wounded small-town gay man, returns to New York City two years after the death of his beloved brother derailed his life and brought him back to his sleepy hometown.
Once surrounded by a vibrant queer chosen family and a passionate romance with a charming Frenchman named Léo, Ash now finds himself adrift—grieving, nostalgic, and desperate to reconnect. But the city has changed. His friends have moved on. Léo is distant. And the past Ash idolizes may not be as perfect as he remembers.
As he retraces old haunts and relives bittersweet memories, Ash confronts the messy truths of love, loss, and growing up. With karaoke as his confessional and Christmas lights as his guide, he must decide whether to reclaim the life he left behind—or finally start a new one.
Bio
Stacey Maltin is a writer-director whose upbringing in San Francisco shaped her Bohemian outlook on the world but calls Brooklyn, New York home. A graduate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Maltin has a unique perspective in storytelling, that is both authentic and entertaining. She writes dynamic characters who live in the moral grey area. You love them, root for them, are probably attracted to them, but they make choices that will strain that love. Maltin's feature drama LANDING UP stars Ben Rappaport and can be streamed on Amazon. The film garnered attention from both the industry and the press, including interviews with People magazine and “CNN.”Maltin's feature directorial debut, TRIPLE THREAT, a musical RomCom, is currently on the festival circuit. Her feature drama THE OTHER SIDE was selected by The Black List as a “Top 10 Finalist in the Hasty Pudding Fellowship” and was produced by Franklin Leonard as a radio play distributed on EarWolf starring Darren Criss.
