Synopsis

CAREFULLY TAUGHT is a thought-provoking and moving exploration of how U.S. policies and media have created Asian stereotypes, influencing American attitudes and contributing to anti-Asian hate crimes. Featuring insightful commentary from experts like Dr. Nancy Yuen and Professor Rosalind Chou, alongside artists such as Arden Cho, the film balances humor and heartbreak as it weaves together personal stories, expert analysis, and cultural critique. Through tracing the origins of these stereotypes and uncovering the dynamic interplay between media, societal beliefs, and the lived realities of Asian Americans, CAREFULLY TAUGHT encourages viewers to think critically about the media they consume and inspires a revolutionary shift in how we perceive and understand Asian identity.
