Following a global phenomenon referred to as The Event, people can no longer die. You continue to age, get sick, get hurt, but nothing will kill you, leaving the world effectively, DEATHLESS. Which particularly sucks for FLORIAN, who was just about to kill himself. 10 years later, Florian is a porn star specializing in a fetish called Snuff. He's strangled, suffocated, and more or less killed on camera for his fans' enjoyment. Florian has friends, money, and a great relationship with his twin sister Renate. Not bad for the end of the world. But when their estranged grandmother, Ilsa, announces her intention to cryogenically freeze herself, and Renate becomes pregnant, the illusion of stability begins to crumble. Spiraling out of control, Florian becomes increasingly desperate for release. Denied the death he so desperately wants, he must fight to find the beauty of life.
Stacey Maltin is a writer-director whose upbringing in San Francisco shaped her Bohemian outlook on the world but calls Brooklyn, New York home. A graduate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Maltin has a unique perspective in storytelling, that is both authentic and entertaining. She writes dynamic characters who live in the moral grey area. You love them, root for them, are probably attracted to them, but they make choices that will strain that love. Maltin's feature drama LANDING UP stars Ben Rappaport and can be streamed on Amazon. The film garnered attention from both the industry and the press, including interviews with People magazine and “CNN.”Maltin's feature directorial debut, TRIPLE THREAT, a musical RomCom, is currently on the festival circuit.
