Jean and Rob are working hard to build the perfect life and perfect career, the only thing missing is the perfect child. So when they receive the news that their baby will have Down syndrome, they are forced to radically re-think everything they think they know about life, love, and family. A dark comedy about confronting our fears and learning to greet life’s unknowns with an open heart and sense of humor.

Bio

Amber McGinnis is a director, writer, producer and owner/founder of Outskirt Media, LLC. Her feature film debut, International Falls won the 2019 FIPRESCI New American Cinema grand jury prize at the Seattle International Film Festival and the grand jury prize at Ashland Independent Film Festival and Naples International Film Festival and was distributed and released through Gravitas Ventures in March 2020. Amber is a member of the inaugural Bentonville Film Festival “See It Be It” Fellowship, where she is proud to be working alongside 7 other amazing female filmmakers. She is an accomplished theatre director and holds an MFA in Directing from Baylor University. Recipient of the Richard Bauer Emerging Artist award, she has been called the “rising star” of DC theatre directors where her work has received numerous Helen Hayes Award nominations. Amber has a decade of experience developing interactive films and live plays with clients such as the DOJ on Bias in the police force, the US Army on suicide prevention, HHS on opioid addiction, and the US Navy on sexual assault prevention. She is currently developing her next feature, Girl in the Red Corner, which continues Amber’s mission of telling bold stories about working-class women.
