Synopsis

An exhausted freelance illustrator Kiki returns to her childhood isolated countryside home to care for her 80-year-old father, whose advanced dementia has reduced their relationship to clinical routines and hidden dinner vegetables. Just as her patience wears paper-thin, a chaotic yet mysterious 8-year-old boy disrupts their routine, striking up a mischievous friendship with Dad whilst driving Kiki up the wall. But frustration gives way to wonder when Kiki notices the little pester perfectly mirrors her father’s most obscure childhood habits, unlocking a surreal realization: this isn’t a neighborhood brat, but a physical manifestation of her father’s inner child. When a sudden medical crisis strikes, Kiki is forced to choose between endlessly trying to "fix" a deteriorating mind or allowing his younger self to guide him into the peaceful eternity of the mist—discovering that the ultimate act of love is knowing when to let go.
