Synopsis

Young Jamie has always loved horror. When his mother gifts him a puppet named Simon for his first Christmas the two spend years with her curled up watching horror movies. After his mother dies of cancer Jamie and Simon become best friends until his new step mother decides that the two spend an unhealthy amount of time together and that "watching too many horror movies turns you into a psychopath". Shortly after she decides that Jamie and Simon need to spend less time together, Jamies step mother disappears while at their family cabin and Jamie is convinced Simon killed her in order to keep them together. Jamie and his father never return to the cabin after her disappearance and Simon is left behind in an effort to help Jamie heal and move on from his delusions. He works with his school counsellor and the aid of medication to heal and when he turns 16 he decides to head back to the family cabin with his friends on Christmas break to face the demons from his past and to put his fears to bed once and for all. But after they arrive Jamie's friends start showing up dead and each one is murdered paying homage to 1980's and 90's horror movie icons and Jamie has to figure out if Simon is back or if watching too many horror movies really did drive him over the edge.
