Synopsis

ROBBING BASQUIAT is a roadtrip heist film about Shawn, a frustrated filmmaker over 40 who is tired of living that “starving artist” life. When things are finally starting to look up for Shawn, her best friend, Monroe, a frazzled yet gifted painter, finds out that he is losing artist residency to a much younger artist coined as the next Basquiat. In a fit of rage, Monroe decides to drive from Chicago to Miami to steal a Basquiat painting from a problematic art dealer with a shady reputation. Their friends Ashanti, an opportunist documentary filmmaker, and Wildflower, a hotep/hippie performance artist, are down for the cause and join him on the trip. Shawn, always being the voice of reason, agrees to go but her ultimate goal is to get Monroe the mental health help he needs.
