Synopsis

Tim is a broke, overworked graduate film student who lands what he thinks is the opportunity of a lifetime: a Production Assistant job on a massive movie shooting across New York City. With five weeks to finish a documentary that will determine whether he stays in school, the gig feels like destiny. Get paid. Get experience. Shoot behind-the-scenes footage. Graduate. Easy...until it’s not.

Expecting glamour and excitement, he instead finds himself dropped into a gladiator arena. Residing over Tim’s daily survival is Chip, a rigid, authority-obsessed Key PA who has worked a bit too close to too many explosives. Old Chip enforces the unwritten laws of set hierarchy with chilling efficiency. Around them swirls a volatile mix of temperamental A-listers and a crew whose turf wars and rituals are as complex as the production itself. As Tim struggles to keep up with impossible demands, he finds an unexpected ally in a perceptive casting assistant, one of the few people who recognizes both the absurdity and strange beauty of the world they inhabit.

What unfolds is a sharply observed ensemble comedy about power, belonging, and illusion. With his good sense of humor, Tim manages to keep it all in check, until the changing schedule and mounting pressures interfere with his personal life. Can he honor his familial and personal commitments, and keep his romantic relationship alive while working on this movie? Can he stay true to who he is, or must he sacrifice his integrity to find success on all fronts? He’ll learn that it’s not just the hustle that gets you ahead, but the heart.
