Synopsis

THE DEACON is a high concept horror feature about a family struggling to make ends meet. During an attempt to get assistance, Janelle and Mark are approached with the opportunity to live rent-free in a home owned by a small-town church. Desperate to escape poverty, they accept the offer. What at first appears to be a quaint, southern church, turns into a sinister cult that has plans for the young family. Janelle begins to notice a change in Mark. She tries to convince him that they should leave, but her pleads are ignored. All the while, the spirit of The Deacon inhabits the home and takes an interest in her eldest child, Sam. It will take all of Janelle’s strength to protect her family from becoming the congregation’s next victims.

Bio

Tequoia Urbina is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker in Atlanta, GA. She is a graduate of Georgia State University and Northeastern University. Tequoia has over 25 years of experience in TV and film and dedicates her craft to creating thought-provoking and entertaining content. Urbina is represented by Independent Artists Entertainment and the member of several industry based organizations. Her network includes domestic and international production companies. She is currently in preparation to assist the Kenyan government enhance their film industry alongside her international partners.
