Synopsis

THE PROCEDURE: OR WOULD YOU STILL F*CK ME IF I WERE A FISH? is a sci-fi drama thriller that follows Liz and Miles, a 30-something couple living in a pre-apocolyptic United States where climate change has destroyed much of the land and citizens have been drafted for a procedure that will allow humankind to continue underwater.

Liz and Miles arrive at a beach Procedure Site where they input their names and relationship to one another. When given the option to go forward with “the procedure” now or tomorrow, Liz quickly chooses to wait another day and signs them up for tomorrow night’s appointment.

Later that day, Liz works up the courage to propose to Miles, presenting him with a drawing of herself as a mermaid with the caption: “Would you still fuck me if I were a fish?”  Miles balks at the idea and legitimacy of the proposal and dismisses Liz leading to a fight between the two. But Miles makes it up to Liz - returning her question with a “yes,” and crafting a ring from an old fishing hook as the two make up.

The next day, Liz and Miles return to the Procedure Site, update their relationship status to “married,” but learn that the intake process has changed: households no longer have to submit themselves together, instead only one member has to undergo the procedure.

Miles grabs the procedure syringe and plunges it into Liz’s chest. He runs away, leaving Liz as she begins to transform. She starts crawling towards the ocean.
