Synopsis

THE REBUILDING tells of a young woman’s heroic journey to find her father’s alleged killer set against the backdrop of a dystopian America – that of a divided country in 2050. This timely story offers a point of reflection, filled with what if scenarios, as we face what could potentially lie ahead not only in our beloved USA, but also in the world at large. Lizz Gehr - the daughter of the charismatic New World leader, Paul Gehr - is ordered by the Head of Internal Security, Commander Jonathan Richter, to find her father’s alleged killer, Dr. Aviva Kerr, and bring her back to the New World for a “Forgiveness Ceremony.” This event is meant to be the first step in Paul’s grand plan of rebuilding America, one that he died before being able to implement. After a life of seclusion - and with a New World elite guard in tow (Karin Fuchs) - Lizz is thrust into the Old World. There she encounters a whole other version of the truth and is forced to question what really happened to divide America. The chilling depictions of the two worlds explore themes of trust, fear, and the blurred lines between reality and illusion. By the end of this story, Lizz realizes she’s come full circle and that her father’s dream of rebuilding America has now become her own.
