Welcome to THE SUPER - a sitcom that’s shorter than your daily commute and crazier than a rollercoaster ride through a funhouse! Set in the heart of Atlanta, this outrageous comedy is tailor-made for every broke college student and cool low-to-middle- class American out there! Picture "Dave Chappelle" sprinkled with a dash of "The Office” - a satirical cocktail that packs a punch.
In low-income communities, poor people are consistently forgotten. Schools are underfunded. Pot-holes, crime, and liquor stores often plague city streets. “The forgotten” work hard to survive, but they can’t make too much money (on the books), for fear of losing benefits that they rely on, such as food stamps and subsidized housing. Therefore, they work their side hustle. Usually, no one cares or pays attention to what’s going on in the hood, until gentrification.
Atlanta Low-Income Housing Trust Fund assists residents living in poverty by providing secure, safe, sound, and affordable housing. Landlords accepted into the program receive a one-year renewable grant that is contingent on the buildings’ successful performance, compliance with city laws, and inspections. Hence, G.Hetto, a landlord from humble beginnings who understands the struggle of his tenants, desire to survive and thrive. He’s overlooked minor violations, such as malfunctioning outlets, broken handlebars, misplaced smoke alarms to significant crimes, such as, prostitution and harboring a fugitive.
Gentrification is now taking over the community, and G.Hetto is at risk of losing his rent-controlled building due to many violations by state and city housing inspectors. He has a certain amount of time to correct the violations, or he will lose his building and his grant. G.Hetto fights against time to get his dysfunctional building in order so it can pass inspection, but convincing his tenants to change their lifestyle will not be an easy task. The Super moves through various tones and kinds of material that depict people of all races and cultures living below the poverty level, yet finding ways to laugh and survive.
