A deputy coroner investigating unclaimed bodies moonlights as a professional cuddler until her dead brother's ghost forces her to confront her isolation.
Set in Little Rock, Arkansas, UNCLAIMED follows the journey of thirty-something deputy coroner Andie Winters. She leads a fractured double life. By day, she investigates unclaimed bodies. By night, she works as a professional cuddler, offering clinical comfort to lonely clients.
A year after her brother Jacob's death, Andie remains emotionally paralyzed. Jacob's ghost appears regularly with sardonic commentary on her life choices, while their mother deteriorates from dementia in a facility Andie avoids.
Andie's rumpled, philosophical work partner, Clarence, becomes her reluctant moral compass as they navigate overwhelming caseloads, bureaucratic obstacles, and budget cuts amid the mental health crisis.
The pilot culminates on New Year's Eve when Andie embraces the corpse of a client who committed suicide—a darkly poignant image that crystallizes the show's central question: In a world obsessed with digital connection yet plagued by a crisis of loneliness, what happens when the person responsible for the forgotten is herself forgetting how to live?
