Synopsis

Rivkah and Kyle’s sole wedding vow was to keep growing. Still deeply in love after 20 years and two kids, they opened their marriage when Rivkah also fell in love with Randi.

Scenes with Rivkah, Kyle, Randi, Isa, and Una convey the day-to-day; trampoline jumping, ocean skinnydipping, pretend weddings and home-chemo-port unhooking. When both families are together, we see humor, ease, and crags of tension.

As Kyle’s health declines, Rivkah organizes a 50th birthday celebration 2 years early. Family and friends gather at a ranch where the weather mirrors everyone's emotions.

Raucous stories abound. The night turns when a friend asks, “Why Kyle?” Anguish wracks Rivkah, then laughter as Paul details his rating scale for humans. Most people are 4s; Kyle’s a 10. Randi serenades Kyle, then everyone releases into a cacophonous birthday dance party.

Sunday morning, Rivkah flirts and grieves with Randi as hail pelts windows. Tensions simmer and release but no one wants the weekend to end.

Family and friends sit vigil. Rivkah tends Kyle, argues with Randi over acknowledging their relationship, then everyone puppy-piles in the bed telling well-worn stories. Kyle passes, shiva happens, and Rivkah slips into darkness. As she’s emerging, we're beginning filming again.
