Iranian-American Nousha has a habit of sabotaging her relationships, frustrating her parents - she's their only hope for a real Persian wedding. Then she meets Alex, a bisexual artist, activist and DJ living in an old warehouse. Nousha falls fast, but when her parents discover that she and Alex are living together before marriage, chaos unfolds, leading to a wedding that's anything but simple.

Sara Zandieh is an award-winning Film and TV director based in Los Angeles. Her latest film, DOIN’ IT, starring Lilly Singh, premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival. She also directed the Amazon International hit THE OTHER ZOEY, featuring Andie MacDowell, Heather Graham, Josephine Langford, and Drew Starkey, which topped Prime’s charts for over ten months. Zandieh’s debut feature, A SIMPLE WEDDING, starring Rita Wilson and Shohreh Aghdashloo, premiered to critical acclaim at the LA Film Festival and earned a nationwide theatrical release. On TV, she has directed episodes of NBC’s GOOD GIRLS and GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY, after being chosen as one of Universal’s prestigious Female Forward directors. Her acclaimed short films include THE POOL PARTY (Tribeca, Cinequest) and REZA HASSANI GOES TO THE MALL (Telluride, winner of the Focus Features Best Film Award). A Fulbright Fellow and MacDowell Colony recipient, Zandieh was also accepted into the La Fémis Director’s Workshop and holds an MFA from Columbia University.
