Emmy and BAFTA-nominated director Ursula Macfarlane is known for making films which combine the epic with the intimate. She recently directed the feature documentary Anna Nicole Smith: You Don't Know Me for Netflix, which was in the Netflix Global Top Ten for three weeks. She has just completed a film for Concordia Studio following a young musician's recovery from a traumatic brain injury, and is currently making a feature documentary about a unique 24 hour theatrical experience with the actress Ruth Wilson. Her Emmy-nominated feature documentary The Lost Sons for CNN Films, a stranger-than-fiction story about a stolen baby, premiered at SXSW 2021 and her Emmy, BAFTA and Grierson-nominated feature documentary Untouchable, about the rise and fall of Harvey Weinstein, premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Other credits include 4-times BAFTA nominated Breaking Up With The Joneses, a feature documentary about a couple going through a divorce, which was recently included in the Grierson Trust's 50 must-see documentaries of the last 50 year; BAFTA-nominated feature documentary One Deadly Weekend In America, about young lives cut short through gun violence, and Charlie Hebdo: Three Days That Shook Paris, the story of the Paris terror attacks. Her films attract large audiences, major awards and nominations, and stellar reviews. She mentors emerging filmmakers at the National Film and Television School. She is currently based in NYC and works in both the USA and the UK.
