BEYOND BLACK BEAUTY follows young equestrian Jolie Dumont whose Olympic dreams are dashed when her mother moves them from Belgium to her family’s urban ranch in Baltimore. An angry Jolie wants to escape until she bonds with a spirited horse named Black Beauty. Jolie will learn to embrace her heritage while continuing toward her Olympic-hopeful future and discover the value of family and home.
Alicia K. Harris is a filmmaker from Scarborough ON, Canada. Collectively, her films have been screened at numerous festivals, most notably the Toronto International Film Festival. She is best known for her short film PICK, which won Best Live Action Short at the 2020 Canadian Screen Awards and Best Short Film at the Miami Film Festival. Alicia works in many mediums; she has directed music videos for Grammy-winning artist Koffee, and her branded clients include LUSH and Adidas. She is currently directing and co-executive producing a pilot and 5 episodes for an upcoming Amazon series. Alicia is dedicated to celebrating the Black experience in her work, with a focus on beauty, spirituality and vulnerability.
