MAYBE SOMEDAY follows the character of Jay as she attempts to move across the country in the midst of separating from her wife. Along the way, she takes a detour to reconnect with a past love and forms an unlikely friendship with a snarky gay comedian, as she searches for the courage to move forward with her next chapter in life.
Michelle Ehlen has directed, produced, written, and acted in five award-winning features, including the first lesbian comedy trilogy - Butch Jamie, Heterosexual Jill, and S&M Sally. With a focus on comedy, much of her work satirizes gender, sexuality, stereotypes, and identity. Her work has screened in over 100 festivals worldwide and has been acquired by Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, LOGO, and HereTV. She has won 20 awards including the Director’s Award from Out Film CT, Best Feature from the Chicago LGBTQ Film Festival, and Best Actress from Outfest Los Angeles. Michelle is currently touring the festival circuit with her fifth feature and first dramedy Maybe Someday (Cinequest 2022 premiere), an intimate and moving journey exploring the cycles of love, loss, and letting go. She is also currently working on an upcoming documentary for her production company Ballet Diesel Films called Queering the Binary, a large-scale research project and docuseries exploring non-binary identities and experiences.
