PROVO is about Liz, a self-destructive ex-Mormon who finds out her estranged, abusive father is on his deathbed in Utah – so she road trips across the country to reckon with her past, friend-with-benefits Geoffrey in tow.
Emma Thatcher is a filmmaker, actor, and photographer. After studying drama at NYU, she began producing, writing, directing, and editing her own short films. Her work focuses on intimate, humanistic stories. She often uses improvisation on set so that the actors can bring their own voice & behavior to their characters. Her first feature film, Provo, is currently in its festival circuit. Provo has won the Audience Award at Chicago Underground Film Festival, Best Narrative Feature, Best Actress, and Audience award at Wyoming International Film Festival, Best Director and Best Actor at Midwest Film Festival, and has recently screened at Mill Valley Film Festival, Buffalo International Film Festival, and more!
