Lynn True is a documentary filmmaker and editor, and co-founder of True Walker Productions. Her films include LUMO (PBS/P.O.V.), about a young woman's recovery from sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and SUMMER PASTURE (PBS/Independent Lens), which follows a family of nomads in the mountains of eastern Tibet. Called "enthralling" by The New York Times, SUMMER PASTURE was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and an IFP Gotham Award, and won a Peabody Award. Her last film, IN TRANSIT, a collaboration with the late Albert Maysles, is a documentary portrait of America as seen through the stories of passengers aboard the country’s busiest long-distance train route. IN TRANSIT premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize and was later nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Direction from the Cinema Eye Honors. Lynn has also worked extensively as a freelance editor on projects for other esteemed filmmakers and production companies; recent credits include Season 11 of Art in the 21st Century (Art21) for PBS, Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence for Hulu, and The Officials for TIME Studios. Asked regularly to serve in various capacities as story consultant and advisor, Lynn has been an Instructor for the Sundance Institute, a Mentor at the Catapult and True/False Rough Cut Retreat, and on the jury of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. She lives in New York with her husband and their two young sons.
