After her brother Michael falls off the grid, Carrie travels to LA to find out why he disappeared during the LA riots. She enlists the help of her ex, Sweet–T. With the involvement of a reporter, the city comptroller, gang members, a Mexican family’s young son, and a TV news reporter, they work through the minutiae of the LA riots and the LAPD’s manipulation to find her brother is dead. While asking questions necessary to find out who killed him and why, the two conclude the police and guns are involved and confront the mayor. The two are abducted by an undercover cop who agrees to turn states evidence, but then is suddenly killed in a hit & run. Along with David Massey, Dawn is currently the Producer and Writer of this awardwinning documentary (turned doc series) NOT ALL LOST, which focuses on youth of color, who overcome adversity and achieve success in life. A realitybased, celebrity driven PBS television program that’s airing in over hundreds of PBS markets. She also produced the short films, BABY GIRL, and WHEN JUSTICE ISN'T JUST being her most recent, attempts to address Justice, since: "Justice can
only exist within the coordinates of equality and is the constant and perpetual disposition to render every person his due.” When Justice Isn’t Just, is distributed by First Run Features. Dawn produced several award-winning commercials and public service announcements for TBWA/Chait/Day and Grey Advertising. She is a winner of the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame Award for her screenplay “Madness.” With an MFA in Scriptwriting Dawn's most recent screenplay LA UnCovered was a 2023 finailist in the Nicholl Fellowship.
