Synopsis

MAGAN'S FARE centers around two first generation immigrants and former refugees; Magan, a pragmatic ride-share driver from Somalia, and Jorani, an older nursing home patient from Cambodia with occasional cognitive issues whom Magan suddenly becomes saddled with. The film delves into the universal conflict between our empathy for those in need and the necessity of fulfilling our own basic needs. For Magan, Jorani is a fare, a means to his real monetary needs. As they spend more time together, however, Magan becomes personally invested in what to do with her and her fate. Magan has a choice: does he help her, or does he provide for his family?
