Synopsis

When Harper, a type-A millennial, receives an unexpected call from child protective services requesting that she come pick up her twelve-year-old half-sister Georgie from her unstable living conditions in Vegas, she jumps on the opportunity to be Georgie’s “savior”. But to Harper’s dismay, Georgie doesn’t want to be saved and she only sees Harper’s offer of a “better life in Los Angeles” as degrading. To make matters worse, one of Georgie’s best friends is killed in a fluke accident pushing Georgie into an even darker place. Once again, Harper seizes on the opportunity to prove her sisterly support by volunteering to chauffeur Georgie back to Vegas for her friend’s funeral. This unexpected act of kindness coupled with Harper’s annoyingly structured life begins to win over Georgie’s heart. However, all the trust Harper has worked so hard to gain blows up in her face once Georgie discovers Harper’s true motives. In this dark dramedy, Harper learns she can’t just put a Band-Aid on a broken leg and Georgie realizes she has more in common with her sister than she ever thought.

Press

"No Right Way is a beautifully written and produced film of half-sisters from a perspective we don’t always see. It’s insightful and, best of all, heartbreaking."
Alan Ng, Film Threat
"The acting is as spot-on as the pacing, a story that lures us in and charms us up before delivering that cold slap of reality."
Roger Moore, Movie Nation
"an odd couple comedy [that takes a] deeper and more unusual [...] look at what constitutes the ties that bind"
Stephen Saito, The Moveable Fest
"If this film had gotten the same amount of publicity of a say, Napoleon or Barbie, it would certainly be one of the surprise hits of the year. I am going to regard it as such."
James Snyder, Film Snob Reviews
"This affecting family drama is compelling without any tinge of soapiness and a remarkably promising debut feature for writer-director-star Chelsea Bo."
The Movie Gourmet
