  • BIO
Family Style showcases a diverse array of Asian chefs, celebrities, and foodies across multiple generations, sharing favorite recipes, traditions, and locations representing various Asian backgrounds. With episodes shot on location and also virtually, we address our continued need for connectivity with others and the importance of supporting the Asian community in these unprecedented times.
Born and raised in Manila, Marie Jamora began her career directing music videos during the golden age of the Philippine rock scene. After graduating from Columbia University with an MFA in Film, she returned to Asia to direct commercials and television. Her first feature, WHAT ISN'T THERE (ANG NAWAWALA), premiered internationally at the Slamdance Film Festival and led her to immigrate to America. Her film, FLIP THE RECORD, won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at Urbanworld and she is an executive producer and director of both seasons of FAMILY STYLE (HBO Max). Marie is the first Filipina to be accepted into the Warner Bros. Television Directors’ Workshop and AFI's Directing Workshop for Women. Her DWW short film HARANA (SERENADE), won the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Narrative Short at the Sarasota Film Festival. After joining the DGA in 2021, Marie has directed episodes for QUEEN SUGAR (OWN), THE CLEANING LADY (FOX), and GOOD SAM (CBS). With a desire to amplify Filipino voices and to champion Philippine cinema, Marie founded CINEMA SALA, a screening and workshop series that showcases Filipinx artists in film and the performing arts – which is supported by the Sundance Institute, Cinereach, ARRAY, and the California Arts Council. After a decade of filmmaking and teaching in the Philippines, Marie is now Directing Faculty at the American Film Institute, and is proudly one of the few Filipinos in the Director’s Guild of America.
