Changing The Ratio Emmys
Emmy Awards Season Cocktail Reception
Join us for an in-person cocktail reception in Hollywood as we celebrate with like-minded folks interested in amplifying underrepresented voices during Emmy Awards season. We’ll have some light bites, great music, and plenty of good cheer to go around. Co-hosted by AWFC, Film Fatales, ReFrame, and WIF with support from ShotDeck and The Hollywood Commission. Doors open at 7pm for a step and repeat photo opportunity. Lite bites provided. Cash bar. Limited street parking. Changing the Ratio is a cross disciplinary networking event for industry professionals celebrating women and gender expansive filmmakers and below the line crew. As the Emmys are approaching, our focus is to shine a light on some of the amazing projects and their creators from this year as we come together for a night of industry conversation and networking with professional filmmakers, crew, and influential industry decision-makers. With the current underrepresentation of women and non-binary creatives across technical and craft categories - from directors to composers, cinematographers, VFX and editors - our collective goal with this event is to carve out and occupy shared space. As film award season is underway, this event will highlight members across our organizations who have the potential to be nominated and considered for awards. Accessibility Notes: This in-person event will be accessible with ADA compliant entrances and gender neutral bathrooms. Film Fatales members can log in to our website for their member ticket.
From Deck To Domain
Designing a Unified Visual Strategy for Your Film
Join Film Fatales for an online intensive about Designing Pitch Decks for Success led by Olivia Klaus and moderated by Cassandra Nicholson. When you pitch an investor or executive, the very next thing they do is look you up online. If your pitch deck looks like a masterpiece but your project's website looks like an afterthought, you lose momentum. In this practical, hands-on workshop presented by ShotDeck, filmmaker and designer Olivia Klaus breaks down a workflow to bridge the gap between your pitch and your online presence. We will walk you through the process of pre-visualizing your project, structuring an effective deck, and efficiently transitioning those visual assets into a functional fundraising website. Drawing on her experience designing materials and sites for films like Sugarcane, People of the West, and Death by Numbers, as well as organizations including POV, Women Make Movies, and DOC NYC, Olivia will share actionable design insights you can apply at any stage of your project. Three participants will receive live feedback on their websites or pitch decks during the workshop. Submit your materials for consideration in advance. Filmmakers of all backgrounds are invited to audit the live class, download sample decks, participate in the chat, and watch the recording afterwards. This event is open to the public. Film Fatales members can log into the Member Portal for their member tickets. Accessibility Notes: This online class will be accessible with self descriptions, auto captions, and ASL upon request. The recording will be available for an additional 48 hours for all participants. Please allow up to 24 hours after the live event for the recording to be posted. Please contact us to request an accommodation. Enjoy!
